ESEF Information Day

The Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH cordially invite you to the ESEF information day of the German Company Register on Wednesday, 28th of October in Cologne, Germany.

The amendment of the Transparency Directive 2013/50 EU of the European Parliament and the corresponding national implementation lead to significant changes in processes for capital market-oriented companies. In particular, the mandatory introduction of ESEF reporting from fiscal years beginning in 2020 in the new European, uniform reporting format has significant effects on the preparation and submission process of financial reports.
In order to better evaluate and classify the upcoming challenges for your company, we offer you with the ESEF information day a holistic view on the topic ESEF.

In particular on that day

  • the regulatory background is presented by ESMA and BaFin,
  • the requirements for the audit of the financial report by the auditor are explained
  • the filing process is shown in the Federal Gazette / Business Register,
  • the role of the XBRL organization in connection with the further development of the ESEF taxonomy is presented as well as
  • solutions for financial reporting in ESEF format.

The day also gives you the opportunity to discuss best-practice approaches with other stakeholders and to exchange views with other stakeholders in general.

Anna Sciortino

Policy Officer  European Securities And Markets Authority (ESMA)

Anna Sciortino will introduce the RTS on the European Single Electronic Format, including an overview of the development of ESMA’s draft RTS and the key aspects of the new Regulation. She will also provide an update of the recent developments and ongoing initiatives, and give some recommendations to issuers for the upcoming implementation phase.

ESEF brings many innovations in the field of periodic financial reporting - not only for reportable issuers, but also, for example, for their auditors, national supervisory authorities and ultimately also for the users of the reports. The presentation will provide a context for the topic of "electronic financial reporting", provide basic information and give an overview of the current state of affairs. It will focus on both the international and the national level.

An International Perspective. Hear from XBRL International CEO John Turner on how ESEF filings are likely to be used by analysts, regulators and policy makers and why that matters for Europe's competitiveness into the long term. He'll also try to dispel some myths about XBRL implementations for public companies in other parts of the world and provide some practical examples about ways that German companies can use XBRL data to their advantage as disclosure moves from paper to data.
